Dan and his longtime friend, Jason Mauer, had an adventure of their own over Memorial Day weekend. Dan drove down to Portland and the two of them raced their bikes in the Urban Assault Ride. According to their website, "The Urban Assault Ride™ is a funky bike scavenger hunt that involves street-smart riding, obstacle courses, and a huge after party." Basically, they had to ride through Portland as a team, stopping at checkpoints to complete crazy obstacles before moving on. One of the obstacles was the "keg walk" (see Dan in pic below) where riders had to walk a course with small kegs attached to their feet. Definitely sounds like a guy thing!
Anyway, I think they had a good time. They finished the race in about three hours, during which time Dan had a big crash and Jason had a flat tire. So Dan might have brought home a broken wrist (waiting for the swelling to go down to get x-rays), but hey...free beer!
