Skamania

Dan and I went on an Army-sponsored marriage retreat in Stevenson, Washington this weekend. We stayed at the Skamania Lodge (www.skamania.com), which is right in the middle of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. It was drizzly and rainy much of the time, so we mainly stayed inside. The Army contracted out professional child care so we were able to bring the boys with us. Dan and I didn’t know what to do with ourselves at first – we rarely get to spend time just the two of us! We ended up driving to Hood River, OR to do a little shopping and ate lunch at a fun local pub. Afterward we went back to the Lodge and played cards by the fireplace in the lobby. We had a really delicious dinner at the Lodge’s restaurant where Dan ordered $19 mac and cheese! It was pretty tasty and well worth it! The trip was simple, but we had a lot of fun and really enjoyed each other’s company!
On our way home we stopped at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery where the boys had fun looking at all the fish and jumping in all the puddles! Then it was a looooong 2.5 hour drive back home.
